Hands Across the Sea has 400 – 500 students in our educational sponsorship program from preschool to grade 13. Our sponsors are essential partners in the process of helping children get a quality education that will open doors to a better, brighter future for the country of Haiti. The heartbeat of our school, the sponsorship program is a huge help to families who would otherwise not be able to educate their children.

School sponsorship provides an excellent education to children whose families cannot afford the costs of tuition, books and uniforms. Sponsored children receive a high quality education at our safe, well-constructed school campus, Institution Mixte Karen Huxter (IMKH). In order to help our students achieve their full potential, all students receive 2 healthy balanced meals each day.

In order to encourage a sense of responsibility, commitment, and ownership, parents are responsible for their child’s registration fee and approximately 25% of the student’s basic school fees. Your sponsorship provides funding for approximately 75% of your student’s basic fees, textbooks, material for school uniforms, and the meals your student receives daily.

All sponsors receive a photo of their sponsor child and a letter or drawing from their student. Sponsor student photos and letters are sent via email in  December of each year. Sponsors who travel to Haiti, when school is in operation, have the opportunity to meet and spend time with their sponsored child.
