Colour & Brushes a Sight for Traveling Eyes

February 10, 2011 Posted by HATS Visitors 1 Comment

After TWO trips (ugh!) to Port au Prince in as many days, Karen and Luckner finally assembled the February work team: Aimee, Brian, Cherie, Corey and Jon–a full-on TIM-BR MART Team.

After receiving SUCH a warm, enthusiastic welcome from all 14 children at HATS we all turned and laid eyes upon ‘Kay TIM-BR MART’ –and what a sight it was. A wonderfully, solidly built home ready for some serious bouts of painting. We’ll truly be putting on the finishing touches while we’re here, and in 35C heat, it’s going to be nice swinging a paintbrush or rolling a roller instead of moving concrete blocks.

Mind you, had the originally planned November trip gone ahead that’s exactly what we would’ve been doing. It would’ve been immensely gratifying seeing walls go up, but we’ll likely feel the same bringing it to a close.

Some plumbing work filled the day, so did some generator trouble-shooting (whirring away in the background now, well done fellas) and games of soccer–sorry ‘football’. Tomorrow, rollers and brushes in hand we’ll put some colour to the home. We’ll also continue work on the Missionary house.

Pictures of teams, homes and shenanigans will follow.

“Nothing could prepare you for this…” ~ Corey Richards (Woodland TIM-BR MART, BC)

“The kids just melt into me when you pick them up. Must be the gran’ma energy.” ~Cherie MacDonald (Swinamer’s TIM-BR MART, NS)

~Aimee

About HATS Visitors

HATS – Haiti encourages individuals and work teams to travel to Haiti to be a part of the work we are doing. Those who come to Haiti are given the opportunity to join in construction projects, visit in the local community, spend time with the children, and minister in church. You can help us in our work for the most needy and most vulnerable members of Haiti’s population. Come be transformed by seeing the need and being a part of meeting that need. Be part of the story
