Hello again another day at Hands Across TheĀ Sea and I amĀ more tired but also more excited to be here, even with theĀ baby cockroaches weĀ killed tonight. If you know Karen you discern two things sheĀ is a tough smallĀ red head that has all the love in the world for her kids andĀ she hates bugs. SoĀ as Liette pulled down the mixer box and the bugs hoped out weĀ all jumped threeĀ feet back and from then on I was to get all the pans down andĀ check for bugs.Ā Karen and Liette were not going anywhere orĀ near anything that might possibly have something in it.

TheĀ best part of today was being able to go to the school and meetĀ many kids fromĀ all over who could not help but stare at this strange whiteĀ teenager coming to
their classroom. We got to go and help the school kids withĀ writing their sponsorĀ letters for the people all over the world that give themĀ money.Ā It was so cool to be on the other end.Ā I got toĀ learn the whole process and how hard it actually is. OneĀ misspelled name and youĀ get emails on how my kid had a different name last year when IĀ sponsored them. YesĀ they are all written by hand and then translated and thenĀ scanned by the computer.

Imagine a room full of preschool kids whoĀ canāt write or even spell. A lot ofĀ work on our end there.Ā Also walking into the school andĀ asking if the kid was absent or had stopped coming to schoolĀ all together. Even telling the kids that some places have upĀ to grade thirteenĀ and we have twelve they were shocked as they have half daysĀ and only till gradeĀ ten.

Then we got to head on down for a walk byĀ the canal where the older boysĀ drove the baby stroller on a rollercoaster ride through everyĀ mud puddle. We passed
a few goats and cows that the kids ran at and I was sure theyĀ would charge backĀ but by the looks of the crazy kids they did not have theĀ gumption.

The finalĀ part of my day was taking the kids and giving them an artĀ lesson which theyĀ loved. Ā I adored to be able to use my passion here even withĀ theĀ language barrier. Where I would draw something and point at itĀ then ask what itĀ was in Creole, where I would pronounce it and most likely sayĀ a different wordĀ but it worked out.Ā Something I would love to look into isĀ combining art andĀ missions.

Finally finishing of our day by a bit ofĀ stargazing on the roof withĀ the older kids and still very hot here.
