Computer Literacy at Hands Across the Sea
Last year Hands Across the Sea began teaching computer classes. The classes have been covering basic computer operation, typing skills, and using programs to assist with student’s math skills. The kids are really enjoying the opportunity to learn these valuable skills.
Hands Across the Sea School
We offer a high quality education to children from preschool to grade 12 at our safe, well-constructed school campus. Registered with the Haitian Ministry of Education, our school follows the prescribed federal school curriculum, while working to incorporate modern approaches to teaching and learning. Ongoing teacher training and professional development help our teachers provide the highest quality education possible. Our school has an excellent reputation in the community and we are proud of our exceptional student success rate.
Laptops Needed
We currently only have 8 laptops to share within our classes and are looking for another 20. This would ensure every student would have a laptop for their own learning. Our requirements are basic, however, the following are the ideal minimum requirements:
- PC preferred with Windows 7 or higher;
- 4 GB RAM or higher;
- Core 2 duo, i3 or higher;
- 128 GB Hard drive or higher;
- Functioning batteries needed as there is no power in the school.
If you are able to donate a laptop, or have information on groups or organizations who may be able to assist us, please contact keith.wight@hatshaiti.org. We will work with our donors to arrange the collection and transportation of the laptops to Haiti.
Thank you for your continued support!
