It’s All About the Children

It’s All About the Children

September 11, 2018 Posted by Karen Huxter 4 Comments

“It is all About the Children”

This is our mission motto. This is just as it should be. The reason for the HATS-Haiti Mission is children. I, Karen, and the many other Canadians and Americans who are involved with the HATS Mission, are there for children. To try to help them reach their potential, to help give them a chance they might not otherwise have.

Children are brought into the world innocent. Children learn by what they see, what they hear, how they are treated and from examples of real life around them. Our children are being brought up as a family. They all consider themselves brothers and sisters and they act like it. One minute they can be taking something from another child, borrowing things without permission, yelling at one another, etc. Then they will defend each other, not allowing any child to act in any unkind way towards another child.

Our children are growing and learning as other kids do. They are now ages 4 – 17 and in grades Preschool to Grade 12. I often see the older ones helping, teaching, and reprimanding the younger ones. They are behaving mostly in the manner they have been taught, and as they have experienced in their own lives at the HATS-Haiti Children’s Home.

They all love to play together, (and when we have visitors to especially play with them), love to run, to play soccer and basketball, to ride their bikes, to leave the mission compound to walk and explore, to draw and colour, to help with baking, to attend school and church. They are well rounded children who are growing academically, emotionally and spiritually.

Thank You to everybody who has played a part in the lives of our children in the past twenty-four years, with prayers, encouragement, financial support and in coming and spending time with them.

They are all precious. They are all loved. HATS-Haiti truly is – All About The Children.

God bless you all.

The pictures are wonderful Karen, I enjoy all the posts from you. Every time I read them and see the pictures I remember being so many years ago. I hope you remember who I am. I must tell you now that I am not doing well, I have been sick for about a year, On June 25th of this year I had a liver transplant. I am slowly getting stronger now. Please pray for me. I pray for God to keep you healthy and strong.

Thanks Karen, so glad I can be, in a small way a part of the Hats family. Thank God for your love and devotion to these beautiful children and now some of them young adults. Hugs.
