The Week that Was……

The Week that Was……

Keith Wight

TGIF……. Thank goodness it’s Friday.
I haven’t had a real job in 5 years and I still love Fridays, because the weekend is starting and it means we survived the week.

Monday started with great promise of lists to follow, jobs to do and tasks to accomplish.
NOT

The executive planning committee at their daily meeting

The batteries that keep our fridge alive overnight and while the Delco generator is off stopped holding the charge. So, job one was to clean the terminals and posts to get a better connection. Easy.
NOT

I was able to do a temporary Haitian fix on the outside temperature sensor

One hour into the job Karen says we are off to St. Marc to the pediatrician with Magdela and Josee. Children are the priority and we should be back after lunch.
NOT

Joan, Magdela and Josee waiting while Karen talks to the doctor

The road is torn up between Liancourt and Pont Sonde so easy trip in air-conditioned truck took all day.
NOT
The air conditioning in truck is dead.

Our air conditioning may be dead but there are still worse ways to travel in Haiti

Good news is we made it safely to St. Marc and back and the girls are fine.

One of Luc’s favorite teachers is back in the classroom

Tuesday was a new day with new problems. The fridge batteries are dead so when generator goes off at 8PM it is literally lights out for Joan and me too. The rest of the week is a blur but some jobs accomplished, new projects created and a good week had by all.

  • Sometimes it is cooler to organize your clothes outside rather than inside
  • Joan is on a mission to get everyone’s shoe size

And this is the week that was……………………

Wow! What a week! I get such good chuckles reading your blogs…..I can picture everything and it makes me smile….maybe I wouldn’t be smiling as much if I was travelling and waiting in the truck in that heat! Love your temporary fix on the outside thermometer…..I can even tell you from here that it is HOT there! Seriously hope you get your inverter fixed soon so your fridge and lights work again!
Have a great sabbath….praise Him today and give thanks anyway! Thanks to you and Joan for all you do!
