Today at HATS-Haiti, we celebrated Christmas! Only one month and one day after the rest of the world celebrated it. After a lovely church service with raucous singing and world-class clapping, we got ready to party. We started with team games with the yellow, blue and green teams battling it out in fun competition. The games all required cooperation and the participation of all of the kids, littlest to biggest. We played with balloons, water, measuring cups and towels and had a blast. After every game the winning team (and the other two teams ?) got chocolates! A big thank you to JJ for his leadership skills with the kids today and everyday.
Games were followed by delicious cupcakes that Leica and I made yesterday. Thank you Leica!
After games we opened Christmas presents. Every child got a Nerf gun, an item of clothing and another small gift. The generous donors who made the gifts possible are so appreciated. The kids were so excited by their gifts and so happy to try them out afterwards. To each one of you who donated towards making this late Christmas possible – thank you, thank you, thank you!
Waiting to open gifts Happy with gifts
We are back to hard work tomorrow at the school getting photos of the kids, helping them write to their sponsors and getting the photos and letters ready to send to all of our generous sponsors in Canada and the U.S.
