Luc and I are safely back in Canada. Presently home on Self Isolation. We both feel well. When our fourteen days are up next week we will still do social distancing.
My two precious daughters, Dana and Liette in Kelowna and Calgary, wanted us back home before Covid-19 hit Haiti as they knew I have compromised lungs (COPD). There would be no medical help for me there if I did get sick. Luckner, HATS other director, agreed with the girls and arranged to get us to the airport in PaP. We were, and still are, very grateful for the safe arrival at the airport in Haiti during a very unsettled and dangerous time in the country.
Last night all flights in and out of Haiti were cancelled. The country has shut its borders due to confirmed cases of Covid-19 there now. All schools, universities, and factories are closed and a curfew is in place. My girls and Luckner were right in having us cut our time short and return to Canada. Here in Canada I am very much missing the children, employees, and Luckner and Roselore.

Director Luckner is at the helm of the HATS-Haiti Mission and will do everything in his power to take care of our children. He is a man of integrity who loves his country, his people and everyone at the mission. The place is in the very best of hands as was proven by how he handled the ten months I was unable to return due to the danger from gangs and the civil unrest there. Please pray for Luckner as handling all this without prayer help is not easy. I, however, am confident he is the one who can do it.
Following guidelines for Covid-19 will not be easy for the majority of the precious Haitian people. Social Distancing is not easy in a country where people can only live day by day, buying things the day they are needed. Most of the Haitian people cannot buy in advance or stock up. To purchase needed items they need to go to very crowded areas for supplies. Many families have to sleep all in one room. Please remember the Haitian people during this very difficult time.

I am attaching a few photos from our time there to make this blog a little lighter. The children were thrilled to have Luc and me back with them and we were thrilled to be there. It was a painful, difficult time as well due to the death of our very special Ti Fi. Again Luckner was the one who handled that and made all arrangements in a beautiful manner. Now Luc and I wait again to return. Only God knows when that might be.
Let’s all do our part to flatten the curve of this virus by staying home and when essential to go out do social distancing. Let us send love and encouragement to others and help take care of each other as best we can.
Psalm 91 and Psalm 46 are daily reading for me. Perhaps these can also encourage you.
May God bless and keep you all.
