HATS Update April 10

April 10, 2023 Posted by Karen Huxter 5 Comments

Hello everyone,

On my last blog, March 18th, things were quite bad in our area of the Artibonite Valley. This blog is more uplifting. The situation there continues to be difficult but it is better than it was.

I know many of you were praying for Haiti, and for our Children’s Home and our school, IMKH, at our mission Hands Across the Sea-Haiti. Thank you for those prayers.

HATS kids praying for each other before heading off to school.

Things have improved and our school has reopened. The police are helping and keeping an eye on our area. Luckner had 124 students return when he reopened it the week before last but last week he had approx 300 students back in attendance. This is marvelous. Our students need to be back in school. Plus these students need to be able to come out of hiding for awhile, see and mingle with their friends and other students. A bonus for them too is they are again receiving a hot meal daily.

Happy and thankful students for their meal.

The children from our Home are still unable to return to live at the HATS-Haiti Mission, and Luckner’s children are still unable to return to live at their house, as these places are being too closely watched. It is not safe to return there at this time but Luckner has them being taken care of. They spend their days (after school and on weekends) at one house and have somewhere else where they sleep.

The men of the group formed to protect our area from the gang members are still quite active, watching during the night hours, prepared to fight if needed, as they are still being threatened.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank You!!!!

May God bless each and every one of you.

Love Karen

I am so happy that the school could reopen. My daily prayers are for these beloved children, and praise for Luckner as he protects these defenceless children.

Thanks for the update Karen. I am happy to hear things are improving for everyone there. Still very sad to hear that the children can’t be home at the orphanage yet. Thinking and praying for you all.
